There is a wisdom in the succulent/cactus.
It knows how to survive harsh conditions.
It knows how to conserve energy.
It knows when to protect itself—and when to soften and bloom.
Spines & Softness is an evening devoted to honoring both parts of ourselves:
the places where we’ve grown protective, and the tender spaces beneath that still long for rest, care, and beauty.
This soul-nourishing gathering weaves together restorative yoga, guided meditation, nature-based wisdom, and creative ritual—offering a slow, intentional pause at the threshold of spring.
We’ll begin by settling into the body through a deeply restful restorative yoga practice led by Dawn, supported by props and gentle guidance. You’ll be invited to soften your nervous system, release held tension, and rest in the quiet knowing that you don’t need to do anything to be worthy of care.
From this grounded place, Kajsa will offer a short, heart-centered talk on biophilia—our innate connection to the natural world—and how plants support emotional regulation, resilience, and well-being. Through the lens of the succulent, we’ll explore themes of boundaries, adaptability, and slow, intentional growth.
The evening then turns toward creative ritual.
You’ll be guided through a pot-decorating experience, where you’ll personalize your vessel with intention, reflection, and play. Once your pot is complete, you’ll plant your own succulent—creating a living reminder of the balance between protection and tenderness, resilience and rest.
You’ll leave with:
a calmer nervous system
a deeper sense of grounded presence
and a custom-planted succulent to care for as a symbol of your own becoming
No prior yoga or plant experience is needed. Come exactly as you are.
This is a night for those who feel tired, tender, resilient, curious, creative, or quietly hopeful—
for anyone learning how to be gentle without giving up their strength.
